Pianist Jisoo Kim earned the Doctor of Musical Arts at Shenandoah Conservatory under Steinway Artist John O’Conor. She also holds a Performer Diploma, Master of Music, and Bachelor of Music degrees from the Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University. Jisoo has studied with many influential teachers such as Menahem Pressler, Jean-Louis Haguenauer, Karen Shaw, and Harvey Wedeen. As a teenager, she was trained at the Young Artists Performance Academy of the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto, Canada. Winner of various competitions such as the Student Soloist Competition at Shenandoah Conservatory, Indianapolis Matinee Musicale, Arts Richmondhill Music Festival, and Davenport Festival of Music, and a guest artist at the AGIMUS Padova Concert Series in Italy, Jisoo has actively pursued her career as a performer and a collaborative pianist.
Jisoo previously taught as the Associate Instructor at Indiana University and worked for the Indiana University Piano Academy as a full-time counselor and piano coach. In the last decade, Jisoo has built her experience teaching extensively in both private studio and academy settings. Through her teaching, Jisoo strives to instill a deep, life-long love for music and piano in her students. She believes in empowering her students in the learning process by giving them options to explore their own repertoire and encouraging them to find their own expressions in music. Jisoo firmly believes that a good teacher can make a tremendous difference in a student's musical and personal journey.
Aside from the piano, Jisoo enjoys traveling, attending live performances, exploring art museums, and baking.
