Junior Pianist Program
Junior Pianists is a fun and effective introduction to the piano for Preschoolers, Pre-K, and Kindergartners, who are aged 4-5 at the start of the program. Every class is designed to be an age-appropriate approach to piano fundamentals, and includes group activities, singing, listening, movement, rhythm instruments, musical creativity, individual keyboard time, and a new song to play each week. 8-week classes culminate in a small performance for family and friends.
Parents are encouraged to attend and participate. A piano or keyboard at home is helpful but not required. Maximum class size: 6
Junior Pianists A- An 8-week class that explores basic piano logistics (pitch, dynamics, rhythm and beat) while simultaneously learning the names of the white keys on the piano and learning progressively more difficult songs each week.
Junior Pianists B- An 8-week class that starts beginning reading on the staff lines. White key names are reviewed and reinforced as well, and students continue to work on progressively more difficult songs each week.
Junior Pianists C - An 8-week class that explores reading on the grand staff, while reviewing staff notes previously learned. Students continue to work on progressively more difficult songs each week.
Junior Pianists D - An 8-week class that refines and reinforces all of their grand staff notes while starting to add musicality to these “facts.” We’ll also be exploring improvisation and composition in greater detail.
