Yusi Liu

Yusi Liu is a film and media composer, jazz arranger and pianist. She received her Masters of Music in theory and composition at New York University. She also holds a degree in music composition (B.M.) under the tutelage of well-know American composer, Huck Hodge at the University of Washington.
Yusi has been teaching since 2013 and has experience with various age groups and musical genres (classical, pop, Jazz, Broadway). She is passionate about teaching children and has vast experience with early childhood music education.She is especially skilled at developing a personalized repertoire for each student based on their level and interests; these could include music theory, ear training, and public performance skills. She works with each student to arrange songs that they would be enthusiastic about in order to develop joyful practicing habits.
Though Liu is classically trained, her works cover a wide range of styles including chamber works, string quartet, percussion ensembles, big bands and jazz ensemble pieces. Her works have been performed at the New York University (Percussion ensemble), the University of Washington, Bellevue College, the Suffolk County Community College and the KNKX (88.5) Jazz Radio station in Seattle. Her film scores have premiered at NYU News Doc Film Festival, Seattle Latino Film Festival, Thuhfilmclub etc.
